I wish The Legend of Zelda NES got a remake.

No, it doesn't need a remake. It's perfect!

So is this, right?

If LoZ got the Zero Mission treatment, I honestly hope it wouldn't turn into a 3D game despite the system. After the DS games, we need a 2D Zelda to fill the void; the two don't even compare to the GBC and GBA titles.

It would be nice. But the original LoZ isn't linear enough for this generation.....

Shut up. Don't even start a huge exploration vs linear argument.

In my opinion all of the 2D Zeldas have aged well. None of them really need remakes. I've been playing Link's Awakening DX and it holds up against modern games just fine. Metroid got a giant remake because it was such a bad, outdated game. I hope Nintendo does the same for Metroid II (yes, I know about AM2R). It be great if the original Kid Icarus games got giant remakes as well.

I can't wait for Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart 3D, Paper Mario 3D, Luigi's Mansion 2,
Kid Icarus: Uprising, Kirby Mass Attack, Kirby Wii, and Skyward Sword!

On the contrary, I feel like games this generation are too linear. Whatever happened to getting dropped in a field with nothing but a sword? Why must I herd these goats and listen to these stupid cutscenes that almost NO ONE CARES ABOUT? Why must the overworld get locked up in parts until I have the necessary items? Why have the dungeons turned from mazes into puzzle fests?

What? Is Nintendo afraid I'm going to not like it BECAUSE I GET LOST? I YEARN TO GET LOST. For once to explore the world free of stupid NPCs getting in my way; I dream of games like that. Rather than focusing on "art style" and a "high school love story" Zelda would do a lot better if it just went back to its roots.

It was rumored as a 3d classic.

The Legend of Zelda isn't that bad when it comes to exploring. Zelda II on the other hand makes you want to rage after five minutes of wandering around. I would actually love a Zelda II remake that is up to standards with newer 2D Metroid, Castlevania, and Shantae games. They're excellent combinations of exploration and linear direction.

Link's Awakening aged better than the original for a number of reasons, though. It followed ALttP's example, bringing in angled slashes instead of stabs, a multitude of puzzle elements that went beyond pushing a block, a wider variety of items, and NPC quests that gave you better items. The Oracle titles took its example and after 10 years still hold up as two of the best handheld titles ever made.

If it's just to add 3D, I'll pick 2 over 1. 3d Side scrollers look better in my opinion.

Complete graphical upgrade, I'll take 1 over 2.
