Why the next 2D Metroid on handhelds should be like Fusion, not Super

#1VyersPosted 7/20/2011 6:36:15 PM
Honestly, as good as Super Metroid is, Metroid Fusion was amazing on its own. Non-linearity isn't as effective for a handheld game as it is a console game. So basically, I can only hope that "Dread" is like Fusion. Anyone agree?

That's open to debate on too many levels.

I would be OK with either style.

Is Dread even in development? o.o

And I'd like a non-linear game better if they told the story like Prime 1/2, with a find-it-for-yourself vibe.

If it was story focused, like Fusion, then I'd go for it.

Of course, it all depends on how they pace it. Imo, Fusion did it really well.

That's why I said "Dread".

Hmm, we could get another Fusion, which would be awesome. Or we could get another Zero Mission, which would be awesome.

Yeah I'll take either at this point.

Nothing should control like Super Metroid. Or sound like it.

As long as the controls and physics are akin to those of ZM and Fusion I'm fine with either a more linear or exploratory 2D Metroid game. It better be Metroid 5, a sequel to Fusion.

I can't wait for Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart 3D, Paper Mario 3D, Luigi's Mansion 2,
Kid Icarus: Uprising, Kirby Mass Attack, Kirby Wii, and Skyward Sword!

I loved Fusion, but I loved Zero Mission, too. Honestly, I've never cared too much about the sequence breaking and things like that - maybe that's why I liked Other M, but I'm thinking that Metroid V should have a balance between those two.

I think the next Metroid game on handhelds should be like Other M, only without the awkward cutscenes and stupid restrictions like doors that suddenly become locked. But, if Retro Studios are interested in doing another first-person Metroid then that would be just awesome, but somehow I doubt they are.
