Price cut is not going to help

I remember being flamed a few months ago on this very board when I stated how Nintendo's sales has dropped and will continue to drop, but everyone went nuts saying

"It happens every time Nintendo announces something new!!"
"They always bounce back, its Nintendo they are the giants in this industry!"

Then we wake up today and see the facts,

Now people are saying that price cuts to the 3DS are going to make up for it and this holiday season Nintendo is going to make a killing, why?

A price drop by $80 dollers is going to get shoppers into a frantic spending frenzy for these things???

Price was never the issue, the fact is that the 3D and the hardware are not jaw dropping and amazing and THAT is why this handheld is not selling, not because of the price.

Actually, according to surveys, price was the issue.

It wasn't selling because of not having many killer games to buy. It would have sold amazingly during the holidays anyway because of Mario. With the price drop it's just going to be a slaughter.

I think the problem is, everyone knew Nintendo was price gouging, not the $250 tag. Like for the Vita - I expect good sales because people actually know they are paying a fair price for the technology, even though it will be $250 or a bit more. Not ripping people off like Nintendo was.

Oh, yeah. Unless R & D and marketing costs about $60-$70 per 3DS, Nintendo is still making a killing.

"Through all of this, there is little talk of 3D, which was boosted by Nintendo, as it was by movie companies, as the next big thing gamers would flock to. Hollywood studios are suffering from consumers' own disinterest in 3D and now Nintendo, in its newest 3DS commercial in Europe (see it on the left), isn't even promoting the feature. This follows Nintendo's own top personnel saying last month that it would be fine for 3DS owners to play the system with the 3D effects turned off."
