Distress? No. Working at a walmart, I always assume people are absolute idiots. :P Not you, but people in general.

I work customer service, so I feel your pain. Yeah, generally people are and I hate nothing more than being forced to cater to them.

This is basically people's argument:

"LOL, it has 3D, therefor it's a failure just like Virtual Boy".

Can the 3DS fail? Yes, but it's not at that point. It's just not meeting its goals, but it can start doing better with the holiday season. Having 2 Mario titles, Kid Icarus, Pokemon Rumble 2 (whatever), and some decent-ish third party titles along with the price drop should help sales a lot. Also, the first year of the 3DS is actually a lot stronger than the first year of the DS, which only had a SM64 remake, basically.

Nintendo needs a new strategy to sell this. The casual market they brought in with the DS most likely got tired with it, and are sticking to smartphones for portable gaming. The price drop will help them, as well. :D

Virtual Boy: 770,000
3DS: 4.2 million

Yeah, but in the 1990's 770,000 was worth what 4.2 million is today.

Please don't speak without knowing. It makes you sound ignorant.

I do not work at walmart, and even I can clearly see that most people are.

TC, the thing is, people on the Internet seem to only think in extremes. They see that the 3DS has had a slow start, and they jump to "3DS = DISASTER!" and "COULD THE 3DS BE THE NEXT VIRTUAL BOY?! I THINK SO!", and whatnot. There's really no rationality with them. Either something is "WHOAMG TEH BEST!11!1! SSS!1!1!", or it's "LULZ MAJOR FLOPZ1!1!1!! FFF!1!1!!!".

If you need evidence of this, just look at how people on the Internet seem to respond to review scores. If a game gets a review score that's less than a 9 out of 10, it's called a flop.
