Nintendo is now taking a loss on every sale of the hardware.

Which means they'll need to sell a lot of software to make up that loss.

And the 3DS HazNoGamez. Well, we'll have two Marios at the end of the year, but that's about it.

This might not work out as well as they thought.

I believe the raw materials for the 3DS cost around $100. I'm pretty sure the $250 price tag was inflated a good deal.

No the profit from the first 4 months will essentially nullify any loss they would have had on the 3DS till it sells for a profit.

You'ere forgetting that there's a Zelda out and a Mario Kart, an Animal Crossing, a Kingdom Hearts, a Final Fantasy, a Kid Icarus, and a Smash Bros on the horizon.

Is this a surprise? Nintendo was losing $20+ on the DS at launch going by what Nintendo is now saying.

Both the 3DS and DS cost around $100 to make (103 and 97) and sold for $170 and $150. If Nintendo is losing profit on the 3DS, they should have lost more than $20 with the DS.

they are probably projecting that the 3DS will cost alot less to produce in the future. the most expensive parts like the screen probably has some new manufacturing process.

Still hoping for a Shenmue 3.
