Many video game companies go through hard times. Nintendo is no exception.

They've been through rough waters before. I'm sure they'll be fine. However, the entire Japanese market has gone to hell in a handbag. Things aren't good for any developers over there. Major layoffs last year from Square-Enix, Namco/Bandai, Sega...who else? Hudson closes it's doors this year. Renowned games like Final Fantasy BOMB and a year later they're still trying to fix it so they can charge a monthly fee. Capcom cuts back on many franchises. NiS having a hard time. Koei/Tecmo merge....The list goes on.

It's true. Not to mention the fact that the economy is in the toilet. The people who would normally use their disposable income to buy games are now paying bills, buying groceries and gas, etc. The other major game-making companies are doing ok (not great) because they have other things to back their sales. Sony makes the playstation, tv's, and any number of other appliances. Microsoft makes the xbox, computers, computer software.Nintendo That's it. Sure they're having a hard time now, but if (when) things pick up in the future, they'll be alright.
