How long until the next price drop?

I sort of want a 3DS but I think $180 is still a bit steep considering what's on offer. How long do you reckon I'd have to wait until the next price drop? A couple months?

Probably soon if things don't pick up, but if sales do spike then I would not expect a price drop anytime soon.

If things don't pick up over the holidays then Nintendo will panic and drop the price again early in 2012.

I believe that the 2 biggest things this unit has going against it was the ridiculously high price and the branding of it (the name). Just because we on these boards and in the in general gaming world know that it is an entirely new console doesn't mean that the average consumer realizes it. There is virtually nothing in the 3DS's advertisement, looks, or packaging that tells the consumer that this is something new. It looks and comes off as just another DS incarnation but with a 3D gimmick tacked on. Even I thought that was what it was when it was first announced.

If anything in the immediate, I would say Nintendo needs to do a massive re-branding of the thing this Christmas to finally get people's attention.

The day after you cave in and get one, of course! Anyone here actually that person?

I definitely agree about the lack of advertising. Have there been any television commercials at all? I don't recall seeing any. There was hardly any advertising that I found outside of the Internet. Thus, when it was released, it seemed that a lot of people weren't even aware, nor did they realize it was a completely new console.

Honestly now that it's selling at a loss, they couldn't afford another price drop. Do you expect them to give them away or something? And besides, with the holiday lineup fast approaching I think it'll start flying off the shelves faster than ever.
