Nope just keep your games in case the Nextbox is backwards compatible... I did the same but with my Wii and kept my games to play on the Wii U

Is that the entire package (with a good HDD, like 250GB), or just the arcade version?

I don't think you'll get more than 50 dollars for the actual box, and maybe 50 for the 250GB HDD.

Don't give up the 360 just yet. Play Bastion, Outland and Deathsmiles first

After that I don't really care what you do

I gave up my Xbox 360 for one. I like the 3DS but I kind of regret it now :( Now i'm going to miss a lot of huge games coming soon, while the 3DS may take a while to get games that I can probably finish and get bored of in a few hours. I still love Nintendo though.

I would need to know someone personally before I would say it's a good idea.

Home consoles in general cost you more money, owing in part to their generally higher cost, the generally higher cost of games, and in the Xbox360's case the need to buy a gold membership. They aren't portable, a minor issue generally as most people won't take too much advantage of a portables nature.

Portables don't lock up your TV, but also can't play DVD's/Blu-Ray disks and so are very personal in the entertainment they provide. This can be a bonus when it comes to gaming in public, or while living in dorms though.

I love being able to hang out with my friends and get in some cards, small cartridge and system size makes it convenient to bring on outings. Other multiplayer aspects tend to be comparable to home consoles, but require you to be at a place with wi-fi to really enjoy (and likely to plug-in so your battery will last).

In all, the portability and lowered costs, no need for a TV and diverse gameplay (considering the controls) have convinced me it's only worth owning a portable. But had I owned a nice TV I would like an Xbox360 so I could enjoy some Halo with friends, as a number I made this last quarter play on a regular basis and it tends to be hard to convince new friends to pick up games unless they already like them.
