Is there a "safe" way to charge the 3DS?

I always have the plug in the wall, that way all I have to do is connect the cable to my 3DS. I remember the manual saying I had to connect the 3DS to the connector first, and then plug the other end into a socket. Then it said when removing the 3DS, you follow the pattern backwards: Unplugging it out of the socket and then take the connector out of the 3DS.

Is it necessary to follow the manual's instructions, or can I just leave the charger always plugged in (whether using it or not)?

You could use the docking station and leave it plugged in all the time. That's what I do. It's pretty convenient.

I play my 3DS with the charge cradle, it fits better in my hands.

I don't know. I just use the charging dock and unplug the wall charger when it's done charging to save electricity.

Weird. Idk why it would be any different with the cradle.
