How's the battery life?

#11yoda2323Posted 8/5/2011 8:39:01 PM
Not bad at all. Just charge it every time you're playing it at home or not using it and you should never run low on battery. I've never been in a situation where I've not been near an outlet for 3-5 hours straight.

same as the psp's battery life, which was known to be labeled "terrible" by many ds owners.

Expect a new model with better battery life in 1 year or so.
Expect this saying for the next 3 years and still nothing happening. ;P

Considering the pattern the handhelds follow, I doubt it won't happen.

Because the DS battery life is great, 3DS is another console, I still say that PSP Vs DS battery life the DS wins by a long way....

Come on dude, that is normal, is like when the PS2 was the less powerful console of the 3 at that time (PS2, Game Cube and Xbox) and the PS2 fans where like: "The games is the only thing that matter, not the graphics" Now when the PS3 was launched they where: " The PS3 graphics are great, the Wii graphics sux"

DS: "Battery life is great, PSP battery sux"
3DS: "Battery is decent"

Why are you even surprised?

I remember when people complain about the PSP phat size, when the slim was out, now Vita is BIGGER than the PSP Phat, but now is ok to be big...

@vidalmoraza

Hands on people compared the Vita to the PSP 3000 and its thinner than the 3000, only reason for the height increase is cause it uses a 5 inch screen and reason its thinner than 3000 is cause of OLED screen, yes OLED screens are as thin as paper itself literally, PSV does not have a UMD slot.

Thats why Vita is thinner than the 3000, its not as big as the Phat.

Anyway to the person about expect 3 years for a redesign, well I will have to prove you wrong, alot of people dont realize that we no longer live in the 90's, where they didnt have to redesign and bring out a new one every 1-2 years, times have changed.

People expect new revisions or redesigns every year now cause of what Apple has done to the market and if Nintendo does not use this idea, they will lose customers and money. Redesigns/ revisions make more money than having the same looking device in a different color on the market.

Also just cause its a redesign doesnt mean its a smaller one, it can be the same as the current one but with a better design in some ways and more features. Yes 3DS is pretty small but the design itself needs a bit of an improvement in some regards, I dont mind the design, its just alot of people are used to the DS Lite design.

Nintendo made a revision with new features one time with the GBASP, same design but guess what was added?

OKAY I will give you the answer cause some people were just born ass lazy, original GBASP had front lit, the GBASP in 2005 had backlit screen.

The battery definitely isn't as good as the DS but it's not bad.

I recently went on a long beach trip for a day, left my 3DS on sleep mode for 1/2 the day with wireless on, had a couple of lengthy gaming sessions for a couple of hours (One in a car ride, one at home), browsed the internet and the eShop and it took until near the end of the day, around 1am when I was already home and it dipped to 1 battery.

This is while I kept my brightness setting to 3 and played 3DS, DS and DSiWare games in the trip. My 3DS also downloaded the latest Nintendo Video which I'm sure consumed more energy.

That's actually pretty good. The DS had far superior battery life since it had nothing to do besides play DS and DSiWare games with wireless on only for online multiplayer. It also didn't feature a complete OS like the 3DS does.

I also believe 3D games such as Zelda: OoT (which I did play on the trip) require more battery life to render instead of say, 2D games. I say this since I've noticed both my DS and iPod Touch had significantly reduced battery times when playing full 3D games compared to the 2D ones, which took less.
