Handhelds should fear mobile phones

#1VealiquincePosted 8/6/2011 9:47:20 AM
A hand held video game device can...
Play video games
Play music
Play videos

A mobile phone can...
Do all of that up there
Make phone calls
Take quality pics
Text messages
Connect to social networks

Mobile phones are gonna make the handheld gamimg device obsolete soon enough. Phones have more powerful technology and really only lack the support handhelds get at this point. All in one gadget>specified tool.

I dont understand why people fight the facts. Were heading into a megaman battle network world. 3D isnt cool enough to sell games and the Vita seems like it's just trying to be a console on the go. Phones eventually arent gonna even look at them as competition.

PC Computers can do that and more, so surely PC gaming will wipe all other forms of gaming out.... still waiting.

Hardcore gamers (hardcore is a state of mind) will never spend hours on their phones playing an incredible and very involving JRPG. People play on consoles for hours on end and can't wait to get home after work to play. People play on portables for hours on end and can't wait to get home to play them without interruption. People do not do that on phones. The controls on phones are absolutely atrocious and in no way satisfy a hardcore gamer's taste. It's a different market. Go back to playing with your phone while you are bored sitting at the Dr.'s office.

Game prices are cheaper than on handhelds. There are PSP and 3DS games on the market for a cheaper price. For example Super Monkey Ball is $40 on 3DS but the same game is $10 on iphone

You can also play DS, PS1, GBA etc for free by just downloading an emulater, which is legal on Android.

Yeah because we all know phones are amazing game devices, they are just so good, now let me go play all the snes games which are impossible to beat because phone controls aren't good enough.

Oh wait, actually let me go play all those amazing 2 gb games with full voicework and 20 hours of gameplay.... Wait.... What do you mean there's no voiceovers, and the games are all on smaller scale.

Sorry man most people want more than cut the rope and the once a year 2 year late handheld port isn't enough.

Orange, explain to me why I could buy fft on the psn for 10, when its 16 on the iPhone.

And stop lying, its not legal to play emulated roms, and even if it was half the games ate unplayable because they don't work well at all without a controller.
