I suppose in your new scenario, you'd refuse to answer the student next to you?
And encourage the rest of the classmates to not tell him either, until he either realizes it's on the board, or simply doesn't get it done.


Right. In both this instance and that example, the info in question is right there. All one has to do is glance at the topics on the board before making a topic, and the first thing they'll see is "Nintendo Ambassador Program and Free eShop Games FAQ" (with a big pin next to it just to draw the eye toward it).


So, which is lazier?
The one who didn't realize how easy the info is to come by, or the one who doesn't bother to help at all because the info is easy to find?


If they didn't realize because they didn't look AT ALL beforehand, the former. The latter isn't being lazy; it's encouraging other people to make an effort on their own in the future. Actually answering the question would be encouraging future laziness.
