If this were to be the last generation of dedicated handheld gaming devices...

What do you think Nintendo would do? It's obvious that the market is changing, which is something I really don't like. iOS and Android gaming make me sick to my stomach. But it's what the world is seeking, more and more these days than just a few years ago. In 5-7 years after the 3DS hits the end of its lifespan, it's hard to tell what kind of superphone/computer will fit in the palm of your hand and what state the handheld gaming market will be in. So if it inevitably happens, what will Nintendo do? Given that they are the ones that really sparked the fire of handheld games I'd hate to see them go the way of the dinosaur.

tbh if the 3ds was last gen, i think this gens nintendo console would be a slide design (with 2 touch screens)

this way it could be used as a phone/andoird as well as a ds...
i also think the top screen would be in 3d

Expect a nintendo gaming phone.

This unfortunately. Looking at their eShop though I think it'd be a major flop. They can't do GUI's.

nintendo is trying to gain experience in the online field, but they have no interest in cellphones. they probably would create a PDA before a Cellphone.

I was thinking maybe the tablet for the Wii U might eventually become the new handheld gaming device. So you'd get a home console and a portable device together.
I think the DS has still got some life left in it though.
