Hmmm that still doesn't seem like a lot of sales, but then again I don't know how many systems are in each Gamestop store either.

I'm not saying it isn't enough, I'm just not saying it is. Look how many systems do you think they had in the store? Exactly I have no idea either so it could be 50 or it could be 250.

This doesn't mean much by itself, to be honest.

Not really. The article's title makes people think that the sales surge was for all retailers across three different states when in reality they called 16 Gamestop stores across 3 states. 16 isn't that much when you consider how many total stores they have in the tri-state area. Also, Gamestop tends to not stock much in each store to begin with since most are small and they want to sell preorders of subsequent shipments.

16 stores is a good indicator, though. Think about it - odds are low that ONLY all those stores would sell out without most of their nearby competitors also selling out (or almost selling out).

As soon as one store sells out, customers go to another, and so on so forth until supply meets demand.

Agreed, I swear internet journalism is unbelievably lazy. They called 16 places? Anyone who knows anything about sociology and polling would know that to have any sort of worthwhile statistics you need a very large collection of data. We need information from a large number and variety of different stores to know anything conclusive.

Plus like someone else said, it's gamestop and they're not the sort of stores to have large stocks of anything in inventory. Usually only a few per item. Now if we were talking about stores like walmart and target which order everything in bulk and a large number of stores that'd paint a clearer picture.

Although the fact that the price drop has been this well received is good news since this still isn't a time of the year when people are buying pricy electronics. This paints a good picture for the holidays.
