When consoles launch, do they get their own case in stores?

So i went to the store today to buy headphones (Skullcandy sucks), and I noticed that the 3DS games were in the DS case. That got me thinking, when the wii or ps3 launched, did they use the ps2 case or the GCN case?

Yes, it's normal. Would you rather the store install a brand new case just for every console release? They fit what they can in what they have.
