Square-Eidos would be better at this point. :P

Maybe Enix wants out since Squaresoft seems to toss money at problems, and Eidos just spends and spends and spends.

Look at my nick. SQUAREside. It's the very reason I have this nick. I don't really like ENIX games. So I'm on Square's side of games. I've had this nick right after the merger back in 2003 or so. True story brah!

again? weren't they called square in the nes/snes days? then squaresoft in ps1-half of ps2 era, then square-enix?

They've confirmed they're not changing their name.

The trademark is protection, so other companies can't call themselves Square. Square Enix is often called Square, so this is in order to prevent confusion, which companies might intentionally make a profit from.

when they were actually a good company?
oh, you mean never?

Square was better, but that ship has sailed. To call them Square now would just tarnish that good name.
FF7 and 10 were developed when they were still "Squaresoft", weren't they?

The merge was going to happen in 2000. But Enix was hesitant in merging with a company that was losing money after the Spirits Within fiasco and the merge was delayed for 3 years.

They were known as SquareSoft since the SNES Days, actually.
