If you pass another 3DS owner, you will exchange your Mii, data, and maybe some game stuff. You can collect various Miis in the Streetpass Plaza. You also exchange the names of your songs in your playlist (optional). If you have a game in it, you might also recieve something, such as a figurine (SSF4). I
