Bought used 3DS - looking to delete old account

#1Vulcan737Posted 8/23/2011 9:56:31 AM
Hey all,

I just recently bought a used 3DS that retains all the old account information of the previous owner. I'm looking to erase their street pass, spot pass, Mii's and all those other things but don't want to accidentally erase anything that will forfeit the Nintendo Ambassador promotion. I heard you have to erase the eShop to do that, but I am not sure. If you could tell me what I should do or direct me to a website with the relevant information that would be great! Thanks!

Don't think this is possible without putting sd card into computer or do it one by one. Are you positive its an ambassador 3ds? There's a website to check it.

Can't you reformat the system in the Settings?

Can't you just go into System settings then data management then Nintendo 3DS and delete what you don't want?

I'm positive, I checked the serial number and it says I'm eligible. Also, the old user still has previous downloads of Excite Bike when it was free for 3DS owners. If I can't erase the progress made on those applications, that's alright, but is there a way to change main Mii of the user. So for me to make my own and use that as my friend code/avatar?

It's impossible to change the personal mii without reformatting the system. That's factory resetting it and you'll lose everything except for preloaded applications. If I were you I would ask nintendo.

Actually, you can just edit the current Mii on there to look like the one that you want.

You can reformat and won't loose Ambassador status. I reformated mine without knowing mine was an amabassador 3DS. I just checked for the heck of it yesterday and found out my 3ds is an ambassador.

This, I did the exact same. However mine was used, and I when I got it home I realized that the old user had parental lock on it so I had to call nintendo for the master key for a reformat. Just checked and I still have ambassadorial status.
