Gargoyle's Quest is tough

Man they dont make very many games like this anymore. I'm an older gamer in my 30's and used to be great at games like this, but I'm so detached from them now that I'm pretty awful at them. Even some of the early platforming levels in this game are a real pain in the ass if you dont use that save state feature.

It's definitely one of the best GB games in the eshop, but man this is definitely NOT for everyone.

I got really good at that game as a kid, it was always my choice for road trips, new where every health upgrade was and the like. Hate to see how bad I would be at it these days.

Personally, I don't use save states on the games. I don't feel like I'll improve my skills if I do.

But, the game is certainly hard and I make silly mistakes all the time. Then I have to go back and redo some stuff.

The worst part is when you're fully upgraded you still get two points of damage from spikes and bigger bad guys. Not to mention the final boss is annoyingly long...well not as bad as kirby's canvas curse.

I cleared it the first time I played it (which was about a year ago). It's not an especially hard game, the other two games in the series are definitely harder.

Obviously its kind of like Ghouls and Ghosts, and that game was just cruel. Every pixel is designed to kill you.

I had to use save states at a couple points in this game though. I swear there are sections where I could easily die 20+ times in a row, which isnt good because they dont even let you have more than 9 lives I think.

I think I basically just suck at games like this. Im so used to modern games being so forgiving that Im not used to need to play perfectly to avoid dying.
