So what was it like going to the store and picking up a single NES game? Do you remember it ever occurring to you that the game was tiny, or did you really think it was the best thing ever?

I love all the NES titles, but I can't imagine going to a store and buying a cart with one single NES game.

It was cutting edge at the time. It blew our minds.

I'm sure your kid will say the same thing about your games.

It'll probably be more than 10 years. I don't think that we will be seeing a major change in graphics for a little while. I've seen an experimental game engine with advanced graphics that's not supposed to be out for a while, and it didn't look that great.

It never occurred to me that it was tiny- what else could it be compared to? Those are what games were back then- mist people couldn't even imagine the scale games reach these days.

So yes, they were the greatest things ever at the time.

Even now, with a healthy dose of nostalgia, no modern game comes close to the awesomeness that was the nes- the sense of wonder is gone. I still am madly in love with gaming, but the magic of the first games is somewhat gone.

Back then so much was brand new- a vast majority of games today borrow the sane ideas that were invented back then. Yes, they've been improved upon, but nothings ever totally new.

Just my two cents

Is it the one that says they can reproduce everything with "cells" and "molecules" or whatever instead of polygons?

Back in the early 1980s, my parents bought a brand new Apple IIc personal computer. It had a whole 128kb of RAM and ran everything off 5.25 inch 140kb floppy disks.

That was **CUTTING EDGE**, dude.
