Trying to play through Metroid taught me a valuable lesson.

It's just not worth bothering with when you own Zero Mission. I've spent over two hours walking around in Metroid making no progress and getting lost in copy and pasted rooms. They did such a good job with Zero Mission. The way a remake should be done. I love the added Zero Suit Samus section at the end too. It's a shame the game is virtually guaranteed to not be one of the GBA games for Ambassadors now.

Well of course it outclasses the original Metroid. It even has the original Metroid as an unlockable!

I just used the NARPAS SWORD0 code and had fun with every item obtained, unlimited ammo, and invincibility. It really isn't that fun otherwise, I just used a map when I wanted to find and defeat Fake Kraid, Kraid, Ridley, and Mother Brain. It really is an outdated and poorly designed game. Zero Mission is way better.

Don't forget that Metroid was meant to be finished in under 2 hours for the true game masters. For many, who played this game a lot when it was the ONLY Metroid, it isn't hard to remember where the necessary items and bosses are.

I could probably find Kraid and Ridley with relative ease as I know most of the important hidden secrets. The biggest problem in Metroid IMO is after death you should restart with all your health. Having to spend 20 mins to refill health is uber annoying.

Tho, having a save state system could really spruce up the game!

if you played Zero Mission first, you should know where all the items are.

It's more than that tho when comparing to the first metroid. To even find Ridley for instance you have to find a whole section of the map by bombing thru a random floor spot. I know its in the floor of an elevator area so that narrows down how much floor you gotta bomb but for someone that's never played original metroid, it could take a long time to find the only HIDDEN entrance to a very large section of the game.

Thus causing the TC's problem of wandering around not knowing where to go.
