Would nintendo have sold more 3dses if the pad was sold at launch?

I mean sell the pad as an attachment at launch, making people think they would have to pay an extra $50-100 to play some decent non-ported games. Then when people didn't buy the 3ds for being a $350 device they would make a bundle of the pad w/ the 3ds and lower the price to about $280.

Cuz this method makes as much sense as what's going on right now. 0_o
