Explain to me how a RSE remake would work in the timeline when BW is a decade ahead of it.

It could be the same area, but 10 years later. Team Magma and Team Aqua are back to their old antics again.

How does that interfere with it besides the cameos of characters from different regions?

Isn't that considered a sequel? Then again, most sequels are essentially remakes of the first in the series, with more or less creativity.

There will not be a 3rd gen remake.

Why not? Because by remaking the 1st gen games into the 3rd gen, they created a timeline. The Kanto and Hoenn stories happened around the same time, while Johto and Sinnoh (2nd and 4th gen) also ocurred similarly.

Thus, by setting the 5th pokemon generation further yet into the future, there will be no reason to remake past generations in a way that doesn't screw up everything.

Now, if it were new adventures in said regions, however, that's another matter altogether

I would LOVE a sequel to R/S/E, as long as it is as good as the originals.
