Uhh....oooook.....anyways 3dslite or 3ds xl, or if they find better 3d, it'll be 3ds advanced. And you, 2d poster, what makes you think there would be no revision? Every console and hand-held has always had a revision. What makes you think there won't be one?

EDIT: Actually scratch the fact that every console has a revision(i'm thinking of sony and microsoft as well, but nintendo doesn't really do console revisions, just color changes), but mainly hand-helds getting the revision(Sony and Nintendo).

3dlite would be a good name.

However, I'm certain the revision will more along the lines of an XL version, so it wouldn't really make sense.

I don't think Ninty's ever reused revision names. And keep in mind that the XL is actually the LL in Japan. The Gameboy Color never had a revision. And I think the second poster meant the 3DS will not have a revision because it will fail and Nintendo is just going to make a different handheld with a different brand name.

Anyway, in all seriousness, there's no reliable way to predict the name of a revision. And Nintendo's the most unpredictable of all game hardware companies.

EDIT: Oops, spoke too soon.

If I hear someone call 'the next revision' "3DS Lite" once more.... *grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*
The word "Lite" is not some kind of Latin or Greek originated word coming from "Litum", meaning "The second revision". It means "lighter", or "smaller", in simple terms.

Also, every Game Boy and DS system except the Game Boy Color and 3DS has had at least one revision:
The Game Boy had:
Game Boy (DMG-001, 1989)
Game Boy Pocket (MGB-001, 1995)
Game Boy Light (MGB-101, 1998)

The Game Boy Color had:
Game Boy Color (CGB-001, 1998)

The Game Boy Advance had:
Game Boy Advance (AGB-001, 2001)
Game Boy Advance SP (AGS-001, 2003)
Game Boy Advance SP* (AGS-101, 2005)
Game Boy Micro (OXY-001, 2005)

The DS had:
Nintendo DS (NTR-001, 2004)
Nintendo DS Lite (USG-001, 2006)
Nintendo DSi (TWL-001, 2008)
Nintendo DSi XL/LL (UTL-001, 2009)

*Backlit model (original 2002 model was front lit -- also note the year 2002 refers to the copyright date, and therefore the build year, not the release year which was 2003 -- much like how Game Boy Advance says (c)2000 Nintendo, despite being released in 2001)

Sweet hell, a rant about use of an idiomatic term?
