is Mario even suppose to be a character?

he has a voice but exibits no personallity at all and appears to be devoid of anything resembeling emotion

Samus,Kirby and Link have more personality then him even his love interest, villain and brother actually act like characters then mr.blank sheet of polygons so why won't nintendo change this?

Mario's an "everyman" character, like Mickey Mouse. The fact that he doesn't have too many significant personality traits allows him to be used in a wide variety of different situations.

This was no doubt an intentional part of his design.

Being a character =/= having a personality.

Mario was made to be a simplistic character. He does have a personality, just not a very fleshed-out one. The reason all the other major Mario characters have more fleshed-out personalities is simply because they don't want Mario himself to be complex.

In essence, Mario doesn't have anything beyond a basic personality because Nintendo doesn't want him to have one.
When Snake sees a "!" over someone's head, he runs and hides.
When the Pokemon Trainer sees a "!", he beats them up and takes their money.

He has a personality in the cartoons and can show emotion.

Mario: "Ooh, I HATE it when you do that!"

On Luigi pulling his mustache.
"History always favors the victor at the expense of the truth."

Mario does have's pretty obvious if you play any of his games that aren't ancient. But it isn't at the forefront of the game.
A horrible person:
I am a horrible person. That's what it says: a horrible person.

As mentioned earlier, Mario was a character designed to fit in everywhere. Case in point, Link would not fit in a Kart Racer, Tennis, Baseball, Board Game, Golf, Platformer or RPG.

Other characters that work like Mario (but not as well); Crash Bandicoot, Sonic.
Other characters who can't do what Mario does; Master Chief, Lara Croft, Samus, Cloud Strife, Batman.

Mario's meant to be that way, live with it.

He loves the natural intoxicants of the mushroom and related kingdoms.his personality is that of an addict, so they have tried to downplay his zany, wacky, hippie babblings, instead portraying him as an everyman's hero.
I don't watch television. If you are the ones who do, shut up, you're brainwashed. .
