My younger sister's birthday is tomorrow, and my parents are getting her a 3ds, so I thought that it would be a nice gift to surprise her with a 3ds game as well. Unfortunately, it's been a long time since I last picked up a video game myself and while I have heard of a couple of 3ds titles here and there, I'm a bit lost and have little idea of what the best/most fun games for the system are.

My sister likes games that she can get really involved in and not get bored/disinterested easily, so I'm thinking I should get her a longish game with replay value? I do know that she's never liked Zelda games much and she didn't seem too interested in Kid Icarus.

Does anyone have any recommendations that they can give me? I'd give her a gift card or something, but I thought it'd be nice to have an actual 3ds game to play when she opened her 3ds.

You can never go wrong with Mario. So I would recommend Mario 3D Land or New Super Mario Bros. 2. Also try some original DS games since they will look better on the 3DS XL. Some good starter DS games would be Mario and Luigi Bowsers Inside Story, Kirby Mass Attack, Pokemon (any main series game...Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, White...etc.), Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV.
