Nintendo 3DS

So I go into EB Games a couple of hours ago with my 3ds, the stylus and the charger and an old Ipod touch. The employees are both immediately very friendly and I tell them I'm going to trade in my 3ds and the ipod touch for an XL.

They're both very impressed by the quality of my Ipod Touch and mark it up as "Like New" and agree to give me the maximum amount for it which is something like $77 (That's better than I could get on amazon or ebay for this model btw) so I'm very excited and think everything is going to go great after that.

I have them do the transaction and I only have to pay $25 dollars or so.. Yet again very excited, didn't expect to get the price so low. I'm considering buying New Super Mario Bros 2 because of how much I got off in fact.

So I start the transfer in the store with a Panara Bread's wifi a couple stores away from the EB Games and it makes me confirm that I'm using their internet through the internet browser on both consoles.

It connects and the connection looks good and I've been in the store for about an hour now just doing the setup and checking the XL for defects etc... and it get to 5/5 where eshop stuff is being transferred. (At this point, the store is closed and they're letting me stay to finish up.)

All of a sudden, my original 3DS disconnects from the wifi and the XL still displays that it has a connection and the pikmin are running looking for the last block thing to pick up. I go to the 3DS and click ok and it disconnects and brings me to the home menu instead of trying to reconnect and continue the transfer.

I check and see that my eshop games are still on my original 3DS (Now EB Games property) and the XL is still trying to connect. I think maybe I can go back to system transfer with my 3DS but when I try it wants to start a whole new transfer.

I have no choice but to hold the power button on the XL and see what happens. When I turn it back on it is attempting to connect to the wifi again (Which was working perfectly fine for my phone btw) and is unable to.

The women marked the 3DS as mine and said she won't alter it or delete anything or sell it and now I have to go back tommorow to find out what the hell to do...

I thought having a 3DS XL would be a pleasent moment but I don't think I've ever been more mad at a system than right now. It won't go to the menu or anything. All it does is attempt to reconnect to that wifi and continally go for the system transfer....

Anyway...does anyone have any idea what went wrong, or what I can do to fix this? I don't think the wifi was bad because the XL stayed connected when the 3DS disconnected... I also think my 3DS was suppose to do what the XL is doing now and attempt to finish the transfer instead of giving up and bringing me to the home screen...

I can't even check what was deleted because they're holding my system with all my stuff on it......ugggggghhhhhhhh....

I say if it still can't be resolved tomorrow, then return the XL for a new one and try transfer again

I would like to try that tomorrow but the thing I'm worried about is maybe things we're deleted off of my 3DS but it just hadn't reached the games yet... It made it through 4/5 of the parts just fine when it disconnected so would things have been deleted? Seriously an account based system would have made all of this a no brainer....

Sorry for the bad news but you can only do a transfer once every 7 days so tomorrow its not going to let you do it again.

I don't think it completed the transfer, so I'm not sure if that will have an effect on me. If it does, I have no idea what I'll do though. I'm leaving for college on Saturday, and I obviously can't do the transfer somewhere else because they have the 3DS at this store...

pretty certain once you start a transfer thats it no matter what happens after that :( its going to give you that bs error message. Guess you could try putting the sd card from old 3ds in the xl and hope for the best

I'm not sure how to get the XL to stop trying to transfer so once I figure that out I could see what's happening....maybe I should call nintendo and ask them what they think about this...maybe there is some way to get the 3DS to go back into the transfer it was in....(At least I hope there is...probably not though... :( )

damn man idk i wish you the best of luck. I know i was on pins and needles waiting for my transfer to finish b/c i had to take my old 3ds back to gamestop

Ok...so I turned off the wifi switch it asked me to reconfigure the wifi connection. I setup my home network and then it tried to reconnect to the transfer. It said "Connection Interrupted" and restarted and brought me to the home screen. Nothing transferred, I checked the eshop and my account was at $0 so I think everything may still be on the original if I'm lucky... If I can't transfer again for 7 days...then I don't know what I'm going to do...I almost don't want to try to use that wifi from them to do the transfer again because of what happened this time..

.I wonder if maybe the wifi connection got reset during the transfer process because everything is suppose to be deleted...that maybe could have disconnected it from their wifi because you need to sign in to use it...Meh...I'm probably just wrong about that though...
