I use the cloth I use for my glasses and it works fine. If you have a lot of finger prints that you're having trouble removing, then add a cleaning solution.

Breathe on it and wipe with a cotton shirt.

Ziess brand lens cleaning disposalable wipes.... available at optical shops and Walmart.
Approved/Made by Ziess, they are the premier lens producers, so if the wipes are safe/designed for high quality lens... they'll be safe for the 3DS.

I personally wouldn't use a cleaning soultion, water has always worked good for me. All it usually takes is a few drops on a microfiber cloth for me.
