Gamestop gutting 3DS games?

#1neoalphazeroPosted 10/7/2012 4:28:24 PM
Went into the store today and noticed there were only new 3DS games, looked in the case were all the used DS games are placed after being gutted of cases and manuals and yep, there's the 3DS used section. I hate this practice as it is but the original DS had over a 1000 games so it was a excuse. A fully boxed used 3DS game section would really take up that much space at this point in the console's life?

Yeah gamestop takes the goods out of their new games to prevent theft or some other bull****. To get nice things from gamestop you have to preorder.

^ lies they do this so employees can take new games home otherwise they could gut 1 or 2 and put the box on the shelf and leave the rest sealed.

This is why you shouldn't buy from Gamestop. Don't ever buy from there so that Gamestop can go out of business.

Make sure the copies you get are shrink-wrapped. Tell them to **** off otherwise.

Enough.

My Gamestop doesn't even have a used section for the 3DS. You have to ask them if they have some in stock >_>

I noticed that they are trying to get rid of PS2 games though.

I'm not sure if you can really gut used games.
They've already been opened, it wasn't the store.

But yes, Gamestop is getting rid of the cases for all used games apparently.

Don't even trust shrinkwrap at Gamestop. I've seen shrinkwrap machines at Gamestops before, so they could easily open up a game and reshrinkwrap it and sell it as new despite it having been open and used. Gamestop is a bad store. And now you can buy used games from other stores that are more trustworthy if it's used games that you're going to Gamestop for. Bestbuy is selling used games now, and I think Frys and some other big electronics stores are selling games used in the cases and everything.

Except it doesn't really seem to keep them any safer... I've asked for games with boxes on display before, only to find they already sold the cartridge itself or lost the envelope containing it.

Preorders are pretty iffy too, considering I've seen plenty of cases where they sell someone's preorder copy before they come to pick it up (defeating the main reason to preorder), or already ran out of the special gifts that were supposed to come with (defeating the secondary reason to preorder).

It's been said a million times before, but Gamestop...is just bad. Unless you're out with friends and feel like browsing for an impulse buy, or absolutely can't stand ordering online, always go with Amazon or something.

Most that I've gone to have made it very clear that they only get X amount of the special gift. When I pre-ordered SF4 it was supposed to come with a Ryu head band. They told me straight up that they had more pre-orders than they were getting head bands, so its hardly their fault they didn't have the head band when I went in three days after release (works a b****) to get my game. I did get the thumb wrestlers for SSF4 though. I think this is why Gamestop started going exclusively with codes for DLC as the exclusive pre-order item. They were also really cool about the fact that I hadn't redeemed my MK9 Scorpion costume because I got the game after I got off work, didn't have time to play until the next day and then *dun dun dun* PSN went down for a month. They were actually able to look in the system and get my code for me since it was printed on the receipt that I had misplaced.

As for them shrink wrapping, yes they indeed do. This is why if I buy new from them I only take a sealed copy. If it isn't a sealed copy, I'll take my business elsewhere. Those saying they don't have sealed copies have obviously never threatened to take their money elsewhere. They had a clearance on AC/DC Rock Band a couple years ago at one by my house and all the ones on display were unsealed so I didn't trust the export codes. I told them I would only get it from them because I had a couple bucks store credit making it the same cash amount I would spend for one on clearance at wal-mart (a total lie, btw, Gamestops was a dollar cheaper on the price tag), but would only take a sealed copy. They s*** a sealed copy for me.

Bad experiences with Gamestop vary by location. I only shop at two of them because of this, I won't go to a random Gamestop unless one is out of stock for what I want and calls another to see if they have it, and even then only if its complete will I go to another one for it.
