Time to try Mario again.....

So the last Mario game I owned was Super Mario World because they gave it to me with my SNES. (Ya platformers really aren't my thing)

So anyway I was thinking of picking one up (since there is nothing good getting released any time soon)

I am thinking of either Super Mario 64 on DS or Super Mario Land 3D for 3DS. Whats better? Pro's? Con's?

Any of the other Mario titles worth it? I love 2D Metroid's and Castlevania's but no 2D side scrolling Mario games please I'm still bored from the NES super Mario Bros. I like to explore a little not just jump a lot.

Mario 64 on the N64 was a mile stone for the platform game but the DS version although having the whole game there (and a bit more) had a big compromise in the joystick control of Mario (and the others). Mario 3d land was not as ground breaking but at least it is on the format it was made for.

Try and get both? Get 3DS and play both of the Mario games. SM64DS is quite suited for the 3DS because you can use the circle pad for precise controls rather than the d-pad from the DS.

If we look past that DS games played with the 3DS analogue pad don't get actual analogue movement? :P
