Actually, C.S. Lewis is alluding to a Scripture the Apostle Paul wrote, here, and he is also in a round about way saying that he is "grown up," but he doesn't bother or pressure himself with the stereotypes of being an adult in order to keep an open mind and be able to do what he likes, whether or not it is considered "childish." The label cannot be applied if one does not adhere to the stereotypes and standards of society.
