I've never played a Paper Mario game. SS a good place to dive in?

I heard that Sticker Star made some changes from the previous entries, but having never so much as looked at a screenshot for the other games so that shouldn't make a difference.

Yeah sure... but as long as you play the first two at some point.

Also play the other three if you get the chance, they're all great.
In order of how good they are:

The Thousand Year Door
64=Sticker Star
Super

But all four of them are really great games, all worth playing, and the order you play them in doesn't matter.

Yes, imo

It is different, but it's still good, and if for some reason you dont like it, you could go back to the more traditional Paper Marios (ex. the first two) and be amazed with how much better they are. I loved SS though.

Probably for the best, if you play Paper Mario, or Thousand-year Door you many regret the changes too much in this one. Super Paper Mario is the least Mario and at the same time closer to 2D platform Mario, so its... Anyway go for it.

I'll definitely try this out. How long of a game is it? I read that it has RPG elements, so I'm hoping for a lengthy adventure.

Definitely, especially since you won't suffer from any nostalgia angst that some posters are feeling because they don't like the combat changes.

I can't vouch for other PM games as I've only played The Thousand Year Door, but TTYD is one of the best GCN games I've ever played in my life. I tried the N64 one afterwards and I wasn't exactly a fan of it since it seemed a lot slower paced and whatnot.

The main combat change is no exp gain, right? Sounds like it transitioned into more platforming and less RPG this time around.
