Considering that Nintendo had foolishly region-locked this handheld, I'm thinking about going for the Japanese 3DS instead of the American one, especially considering that such great games like "Project X Zone" & "Monster Hunter 4" aren't coming stateside at all.

What would be your opinion about it?

If Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate sells well here in the states, we might get MH4.

Most of the good Japanese games are being released outside of Japan, so American is probably a better buy.

if u can read it, then sure. it's what i did. it is painful having to pay a premium import price for games like Mario kart which require no knowledge of the language. eh, it's da price u gotta pay I suppose.

Can you read Japanese and afford the imports? Then sure.

BDFF and Beyond the Labyrinth are no word so far, and the others that you are getting are

-over a year later, you get MH3G and MH4 is basically out already
-split into half (One Piece...but thats EU i think)
-most likely less DLC/collaboration items [Nintendogs JPN had way better spotpass gifts than NA]
