Play DS games on 3DSXL?

I got a few games in my backlog so it'd be nice if it could play my old games.

If yes, how?

Yes, you put the game in the 3DS and play it.

Also are there any bundles on sale right now for the holiday season? I'm looking to pick me up one but buying a bundle would be that much better.

Also how do DS games perform on the XL? Do the games fit the screen?

Lots of bundles coming up. Go to nintendoeverything.com and read about them.

DS games have the same aspect ratio as the DS and the whole image is stretched equally. So, it is fewer pixels in any given area of screen. I personally don't notice the quality if the game is fun. If you are a graphics whore, you'll notice it.

They take up the entire bottom screen and an equal size on the top by default. However, if you hold start or select while launching the game it enters native resolution mode, where it displays at roughly the size of a DSi screen.

But there's an option to fill the whole screen right? I'm not much of a graphics whore but having unused space on my screen would be annoying.

no, because if it did, games that take advantage of both screens at once,(yoshi's island ds for example) would like extremely mishmashed and look crap.

There is not. You will always have black somewhere on the screen to preserve the aspect ratio. Keep this in mind if it could be a deal breaker for you.

Languages are the main compatibility issue. DSi and 3DS have fewer settings, so some DS games can't use every mode they contain.
