Yes. If a patent exists for "moving a character with a touchscreen", Sega definitely has a case.
Sega also has a case against Capcom, Nintendo, Konami, Namco Bandai, Square Enix, The Pokémon Company, and Atlus.

PS: I'd totally boycott SEGA if they were still making games.
It's about how characters are controlled specifically in a soccer game.
The patent reads that it goes beyond soccer and can apply to any game where you control a character like that.
So yes, SEGA is still trying to create a precedent that they control a very basic DS mechanic.
