Wow!!! Nintendo DS has beaten the PS2

This article is full of fail.

I love the DS, but... according to their own admission, the source for this article, VGChartz, stopped tracking sales of the PS2 years ago. It's hard not to surpass someone in a race when you stop tracking their progress.

While The DS has it all and deserves to be in that spot as it is one of the best systems in thr industry, I don't think it has yet beaten the PS2, I remember PS2 being near 160M and DS behind it by a bit. Especially considering the source is VGCharts

yeah well the DS IS awesome i got my first zelda and sonic game from it.

also some gems like suikoden tierkreis and lunar knight(boktai sequel) are just amazing.
hope the 3ds get's close to the succesx of the original ds.

The ds had an amazing lineup of games devolved for it. Also the early systems were backward compatible with the gba. Which allowed it to play all the amazing gba games.


And Nintendo kept making it better. Every so often there was a new version that was better then the last version. This process has brought us the 3ds which is IMO the best video game system out there.

I guess I just missed the appeal of the DS. I liked it, but not that much. I guess it really appeals to casual gamers, and has had a ton of revisions for people to buy. And I guess it has some good games too.


ya, just like those casuals who bought ps2 as a cheap DVD player. DS didn't even play media and beat the PS2!

No it didn't. Check the article again where people are laughing at the source. VGChartz stopped tracking the PS2 years ago, which means, despite shipping several million last year, you won't find it counted.

I haven't seen a PS2 at any store (and I live in CA) for about 3 years. Also media create still tracks PS2 and it's been pulling in less than 100 a week for a couple years. I don't doubt DS beat PS2 total sales. Also I'm a fan of both, I currently own 15 PS2's and 5 Ds's...

Just for the record- In its fiscal year 2011, Sony said that it was able to sell 4.1 million PS2s.
