Original Mario is hard ;_;

I suck at this game. Been playing it while I wait on my first game (Kingdom Hearts 3D) to arrive in the mail. I really suck at it. I think it's a big combination of things that make me dislike it. Mario feels like he controls differently than he does in New Super Mario Bros (less floaty, maybe?), and the fact that if you lose all your lives you restart the game from scratch really sucks. I know that back then it was for added play time but jesus.

I actually prefer the less floaty physics. Seems more natural, imo. Make use of restore points; they help immensely.

Hold A when you continue to start on the first level of the world you died in (IE if you got a game over in 5-3 you'll continue in 5-1).

And most NES games suffered from trial and error gameplay. A lot of people give the original SMB a free pass for it because some of us have been playing it for over 20 years, but its a relatively difficult game and thats the beauty of it. The first time you finish it is pretty rewarding, I still remember that feeling well.

I hope once you get past it not playing like SMB you can enjoy it like the rest of us do.

TC may want to stay away from Lost Levels for a while.

Its a lot harder than SMB1. Its not unbeatable hard, and the difficulty tends to be kind of exaggerated because most people are less familiar with it than they are the original, but its noticeably harder. SMB1 starts kinda easy and by the time you get to world 8 its noticeably harder. Lost Levels kinda picks up around world 8 difficulty and gets harder.

The floatiness of the new games is why 2D Mario is dead to me now.

I bought the 25th Anniversary Mario Wii a few years ago and was excited to play a 2D Mario for the first time in 10 years. About 45 minutes later I just put it away and haven't played it since. I hate it.
