My xl has a little give near the bottom of the battery cover, i looked online and people were saying to take off the screws and reattach the battery cover and it should be all good again. I took off the cover and noticed there was still a small amunt of movement so i took the battery out and found a small crack where the battery was being held. Will this crack get worse or will it be fine? Ive had a crack in nearly the same area with the original 3ds so i guess its would be a little normal. Will it be okay?

Pics maybe? Not saying you're lying but it'd be easier to assess the damage.

Mine sort of feels the same way on my original 3DS but I don't think it'd be a big deal. As long as you're not the kind who puts constant pressure on the back when playing.

I put pressure on it when using the start and home buttons, you think it will be alright?

Well where exactly is the back? Farther back in the compartment? Or close to the outside?

Cracks always get worse over time. I would not tolerate one in a device as new as the XL. Exchange it. If that's not an option, contact Nintendo for a repair.
