How does one go about claiming the DK Original Edition code?

My brother (he and I live in the U.S.A.) purchased New Super Mario Brothers 2 on the eShop but he has no Club Nintendo account. How would he go about claiming the Donkey Kong Original Edition code? Does he get it when he makes an account?

You need Club Nintendo account as you get it for registering the game there,

The site mentions that it will email them, eventually.
(think the range gave them half a dozen weeks or so to send it)
Waiting for mine as well.

The game has to be purchased on the eshop and not physically at a store . Also theres only a couple specific titles for the promotion which include Art academy digital, layton and the miracle mask digital, style savy digital , paper mario digital , and i believe crosswords plus
