DS or GBA? Which handheld do you think was better overall?

"my GBA just stopped working for no apparent reason"

I think I can figure out the reason-

"while my DS Lite has teeth marks in it"

And this is why your GBA stopped working.

You have to stop trying to eat your systems!

I know that you get very hungry, and perhaps there might not be food ready just at that second, but eating your systems will only hurt you and your pocketbook in the long run! You must trust me on this!

I bought the DS Lite secondhand to replace the GBA. It came with the teeth marks.

The Power switch on the GBA stopped working for no reason

DS

I loved the GBA but the DS just had so much more going for it.

Although sales numbers are necessarily an indicator of a product's quality, it was certainly the case with the DS. It's not a surprise why it's the best-selling video game system ever.

It's a hard call. A big issue with DS is that a number of the franchises that defined GBA saw a huge decline in quality to the point of near-irrelevance, particularly Fire Emblem, Megaman Battle Network -> Star Force and Sonic Advance -> Rush. On the other hand, DS does have a number of new franchises that GBA doesn't have at all, like Professor Layton and Rune Factory.

I'm inclined to say that what DS gets back isn't quite worth what it gives up, though really both systems have their pros and cons.

I can't help but wonder what the average age group is here when people are saying "DS, because it could also play GBA" as if the GBA couldn't play GB and GBC games, something a DS couldn't do.

It's a stupid argument anyway because clearly when people say this they mean "Which library do you think was better overall?"
