DS or GBA? Which handheld do you think was better overall?

DS, hands down.

DS was great but I honestly didn't have alot of titles for it besides main 1st parties. But the GBA was pretty much part of my life growing up, gotta love sneaking in a GBA SP in middle school playing lol.

so if anything I like GBA more mainly since it grew with me while DS came when I was already in high school and during that phase MMOs and what not kind of took over for me at that time.

GBA for me, specifically because I was severely disappointed with the Zelda games, and that was only because you had to do EVERYTHING with the touchscreen. Would've been a nice addition for puzzles, but I'd like to at least have been able to use the d-pad to move around.

Wait what? DS had GBA beat to a pulp w/ third parties.

Personally i think the GBA was better, but its mostly just cause of nostalgia since i had a ton of good times with that thing years ago. However, i think Nintendo outdid themselves with the DS, and since it can actually double as a GBA (given you have an old Phat or Lite model), its definately the better handheld overall. I still love the design and durability of the SP though, very well made device for its time IMO

DS

GBA had some solid titles but a lot of it is downgraded ports.

GBA had Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, MMBN 2/3/6, Mario & Luigi, Fire Emblem 7, Advance Wars, Tactics Ogre

DS had some great games but not much was on the same level as the GBA's best IMO

Honestly, they're both solid handhelds and it's hard to choose.

GBA was awesome with my favorite games being Mother 3, Rhythm Tengoku, WarioWare: Twisted! and all of the various SNES remakes such as DKC123 and Yoshi's Island. And of course, the Pokemon games are beautiful <3

On the other hand, DS also has its set of wonderful Pokemon games, the orgasmic Mario Party DS, Yoshi Touch & Go, and Rhythm Heaven which is fittingly one of my favorite games of all time. I also love me some nostalgic Clubhouse Games.

It's really hard to choose.... I may go ahead and side with the DS for producing many of my fondest gaming memories ever.
