What games are people missing due to region lock?

#1Lemmywinks13Posted 1/1/2013 4:07:22 AM
Could I trouble someone to provide me a list of games that are unplayable right now due to region locking. There is an insane amount of people here that are in favor of stealing, so I was just wondering what games were out that people can't play on their DS.

I know on the Wii, the U.S. never got Pandoras Tower, Fatal Frame, and Disaster. Three games that were supposed to be pretty good, but nothing too special. I hardly consider the lack of these three games enough to justify stealing everything under the sun and hacking online games to make them unplayable.

Is the situation much worse on the 3DS? I know we don't have Project X Zone yet or Bravely Default, though there is still plenty of time for those games to come here. I sure hope there is more than this...

Beyond the Labyrinth
Project X Zone
BDFF
Most anime-related games
Senran Kagura
Senran Kagura Burst
Dragon Quest Terry's Wonderland
there's heaps more retail which I can't think.

On top of that, the VC here has about nearly 100 more titles (exaggeration, but you get the point), as well as way more quality 3DSWare.

Ok, so not much. Exactly as I thought. I see about two or three games there that probably won't come to America at any point in time. Yep...totally worth wrecking the system for. lol

We no longer have

Rhythm Tengoku
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan (or its sequels, including the US-based Elite Beat Agents)
Kuru Kuru Kururin (and its sequel)
Nintendo Puzzle Collection
Last Window: Secret of Cape West (a sequel to a game that came out in the US)
Another Code R
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Ace Attorney Investigations 2
Inazuma Eleven
Retro Game Challenge 2
Project X Zone
F-Zero Climax
Custom Robo (and sequels)
Doshin the Giant
GiFTPiA
Jet Impulse
Captain Rainbow
New Play Control! Chibi-Robo!
Starfy franchise, largely
Fire Emblem series, pre Blazing Sword
Mother 3
Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland
... and many others.

Never heard of these games except Mother 3 (only because of mindless chatter on here about it) and I don't care about any of them.

Never hearing of Fire Emblem or Ace Attorney makes me believe your knowledge of game franchises is limited to Mario and Tetris.

Which makes your statement even less relevant.

" There is an insane amount of people here that are in favor of stealing"

>_>

Bypassing region lock is stealing now?

All righty then!

In any case- for me, Another Code R was a game I can easily mention when I bring up the damning effects of region lock. It was an incredible game, a sequel to the DS game Trace Memory/Another Code, and I wanted it so badly.
But Nintendo of America is run by one-legged circus monkeys who make their localization decisions by throwing poo at a wall, so they refused to allow it to be localized and I never got to play it.
That NOA decision, by the way, is the one of main contributory factors (along with the STUPID STUPID decision to refuse to allow Last Window to be released in the US) in the demise of Cing, one of my all time favorite developers. By cutting the company off from one of the biggest distro market, the company's finances were choked off and they collapsed.

And now you know why I hate Reggie.
