DS games on eShop?

#1Zero_ManiacPosted 1/2/2013 9:35:32 PM
Why aren't there any? I'd totally buy DS games more often if I could just download them. I mean after all, what's stopping Nintendo from putting them up? Sony has PSP games available for download on the Vita, so why can't DS games be available for download on the 3DS?

No,it's because the 3DS is backwards compatible.

Aside from backwards compatibility, I think part of the reason that we don't see them on the eShop is that the games would be similar to DSiWare, and DSiWare games have a limit of 200 blocks. Most (good) DS games go over that limit, so there's no way those games would show up on the eShop.

Stop reading my sig, you are wasting time doing so.

So why even bother putting up 3DS games on the eShop? The 3DS is compatible with itself.

My point is, it's convenient. They'd also get more sales from people like me.

First of all, I'm pretty sure the file size limit is 2GB on the eShop DSiWare aside. Second of all, even if I'm wrong, they can still increase the limit.

Yeah and then you break your 3DS.What then? You lose all your data. There's no need to put DS games on there. Not as long as the 3DS is backwards compatible.

I'm not sure, but didn't nintendo say it would eventually?
I could see the appeal of buying some hard to find niche title on eshop. I mean i'd rather do that then pay 999 for dragon quest v(great game, but no game is worth that much...)

Following this logic, there is no need to have anything on the eshop since you'd lose your data once you break your 3ds. As long as they sell 3ds games on there, this will never make sense as any sort of reasoning. If you want to argue against digital purchases in general, then that's another story.

Backwards compatible or not, I don't really see the downside in doing this. Sure, I'd sooner see more gba games and the like but I wouldn't mind seeing DS games at all.
