Connecticut town collecting and destroying violent video games.

As an American citizen, all I can say is: only in America can something this incredibly, mind-bogglingly stupid happen.

Instead of dealing with the problem at its source, such as investigating the murderer's family and personal life, and other relevant issues, these idiots are offering people a pittance in exchange for holding a damn bonfire.

Even before this, the NRA was one of the first on the scene to place blame, so no one will start forcing them to engage in one of America's favorite pastimes: litigation. The NRA's actions were so obvious that even Leland Yee, one of the most outspoken proponents of video game regulation in the US, called them on their bull****, even going so far as to actually say they were "passing the buck". The irony is quite thick here.

We need to put an immediate end to wasting precious time and capital on playing the blame game, engaging any branch of our govenment (at any level) on BS research via tax dollars, and generally putting way too much energy into knee-jerk reactions when tragedy strikes.

There is absolutely no effin' reason, at all, to do what this town is doing. It serves no purpose whatsoever. I begrudgingly quote Gabe Newell when I say that this whole idea "is a waste of everybody's time".

Did the shooter even play games? I thought that was only his brother.

Lol, it's funny because it's more likely that the opposite is true. Serial killers have said that if they had access to games like GTA, they probably wouldn't have killed anybody as they'd be venting their anger and stress into the game.

Ah, I believe that's called catharsis, right?

Honestly I haven't literally face palmed for something in a LONG time, my face kind of stings now. I know all Americans aren't representative of MORONS like this but to anyone who lives outside the states, in another 1st world country, you are very hard to understand when you essentially revert back to witch hunts and book burnings upon every minor tragedy.

This reminds me of the 80's when you idiots damn near outlawed D&D because some murderer happened to play it. You guys make me sick sometimes. Media of any sort didn't make this crazy SOB blow children away. In 2012 games are as big as movies...ALMOST EVERYONE UNDER 40 PLAYS VIDEO GAMES! This isn't some niche little thing anymore. It boggles my mind how a bunch of people can somehow be whipped up into such a frenzy so easily against something that is so common place. I mean probably anyone who's had a kid in the last 30 years has been exposed to video games and you don't see a bloody horde of murdering psychopaths roaming the streets. Ugh Americans piss me off sometimes. How a country so bloody moronic became a world super power is beyond me. I'm sorry if you are among the majority of people who live in the states that are completely reasonable but when stuff like this happens it makes you all look like neanderthal idiots to the rest of us.

I think it's more the fact that guns enable the crazy people to kill many people.

If you outlaw firearms, you can still obtain them illegally. Which means only the bad guys are going to have guns.

Even if you somehow remove all guns from the world, he'll just find another way to hurt and kill people. That's the way humans are.

You know what maybe these people are on to something. Of you get rid of violence in games people won't be violent. While they're at it they should destroy pornography so people stop having sex. They should also get rid of movies about war so that there is world peace!(sarcasm)
