I desperately need help choosing between Vita and 3DS.

Hello! I'm coming to this board because Vita board is filled with trolls or fantards. A long, long time ago I was a diehard nintendo fanboy, and loved everything they made. However, Sony eventually managed to sweep me away with it's solid collection of ARPG's. I enjoy difficult, raid genre or traditional ARPGS and have noticed the slow, sad death of the Vita.

While it has a few games for me left, I am stuck between trying to sell it while people will buy it, or waiting it out. My Vita is able to run Monster Hunter Portable Third and Lord of Apocolypse, but they are both games I am mostly finished with. (Really.)

I want to know: Are there any 3DS games that may cater to my liking that I just don't know? I'm also a huge fan of third person shooters, the occasional turn based rpg, (Not Paper Mario please, I, for some strange reason, am not feeling the same love for this one.)

The first thing you see is a 450 page questionnaire about Persona 1-4 when you boot up your game and if you get below 80%, the cartridge blows up.

So you have a 3DS question, but you decided to not post about it on the Vita boards because you think it is full with trolls and fantards.

Did it never crossed your mind that a 3DS question just belongs on the 3DS board, regardless of what kind of people there are on the Vita board?

I was going to actually type out some stuff but this is really all you need. The RPG lists for Vita and 3DS.

well, the vita can play all downloadable psp games, so that's something to consider

but you can play old game boy games on the 3ds, which is awesome

I would get a 3ds xl, and wait for a vita pricecut or a revision

Nope, that's a Dungeon Crawler IIRC. An ARPG is more along the lines of Kingdom Hearts DDD and Tales of the Abyss, to name a few.

First post, ever. Yayyy. Anyway, I have both of the systems, but I have only had he Vita for a couple weeks, so I don't think I can truly make a fair comparison, but I'll try.

As far as third-person shooters, handhelds aren't really the greatest platform for that. For the 3ds, Resident Evil Revelations is the only one to come to mind (Star Fox could technically fall under this category, too. Your call). I have played both of them and found them to be very entertaining. For the Vita, Uncharted: Golden Abyss is probably the closest to a third-person shooter you're going to get (Call of Duty: Declassified or whatever it is is first-person and, honestly, not really worth $50 right now). I haven't played it yet, but 1) it has received good reviews and 2) I have played 1,2, and 3 on the ps3 and have enjoyed them all. The only game I've played on the Vita is ACIII: Liberation and it's exciting to play (haven't even gotten through half the game yet, though. So much to do).

As far as turn-based rpgs, the 3ds doesn't really have any....yet. Tales of the Abyss and Heroes of Ruin aren't really turn-based, but I've played Tales and enjoyed it. Fire Emblem: Awakening, which is turn-based, is coming out in a little less than a month, though, and I'm definitely going to get that. And, of course, *sigh*, Pokemon will eventually make it's way here, too. For the Vita, I can't really help you with personal experience, but Ragnarok Odyssey is apparently similar to Monster Hunter. There is also Persona 4 Golden which is apparently the god amongst Vita games right now according to almost every gaming website with a forum. If you have a ps3, you can download Valkyria Chronicles 2 (unfortunately at a price of $40. In my opinion, it's worth it) from the ps store and transfer it to your Vita.

There are probably some DS games or PSP games that could crave your need for either game genre: I just don't know them off the top of my head. I'll be using my Vita a lot more come the end of January into February (yayy, business travel), so if you would like, I can give another opinion later on down the road. You make the final decision, but for my opinion right now, I would go 3ds.

3DS is cheaper and has more games.
