No. Dude. Wait for some games and save up for a 3DS.
He might be waiting for a LONG while then :(.
You never know. The Vita is weird; games can be announced a week before release.
games that no one cares about.
soul sacrifice is coming out in the near future, i suggest experiencing that game before throwing the system away, looks like a good game just like the almighty kid icarus uprising, except its for Vita.
If you're planning to buy anything in the future, then keep the Vita and save up for the 3DS. If you end up buying another Vita down the road, your impatience could have cost you a few hundred dollars.

I'd sell it (you should be able to get $250 - $300+ with what you have) and then buy either a redesign or a holiday bundle either this year or next. Overall, you could possibly profit depending on how long you wait.
It wouldn't be worth it, IMO, to hold onto the Vita for 6 months to get some games you'd enjoy rather than trade it in now to get lots of 3DS games that you would enjoy.
I say sell and get a 3ds xl. I did it and I couldn't be happier. With the current games of Ocarina of Time, Kid Icarus, Mario 3D, Pokemon Black 2, and then the releases of Fire Emblem, Castlevania, Pokemon X/Y, Luigi's Mansion, and Animal Crossing, its hard to ignore all this good stuff.
The fact that Sony hasn't given their system the support it needs like Nintendo has given the 3ds, I see a grim future for owning a vita.
