Various sources claim 480 hours.

In actuality it only lasted about 30-40 hours till it was empty for me (using the battery that came with it).
That's not even 10% of the amount it should last.

I don't understand why they even so grossly overstated it.

I've had mine since launch, and it has easily lasted 100 hours and still going strong.

I've had my CPP since it's launch. Never had to replace the battery and I've used it a lot for Resident Evil:R, MGS3, and KI:U (left handed).

Well, mine most certainly didn't last long. And the battery that came with it was still in plastic, so it can't have been used.

I always assumed it would share a battery with the 3ds.
What kind does it take? (I don't have one

Not only that, I'm sure many gamers like myself also have rechargeable batteries and AAA's usually come with the chargers and rarely get used. I have 4 that are always sitting in my drawer ready for use.

Bought mine used just for Metal Gear. The used battery lasted 2 playthroughs so far. I'd say battery life is just fine.

Plus it only works on a few games... how much are you REALLY using it. Seems like complaining for the sake of complaining.
can't remember... something important...

It was the battery, not the CPP.

Mine did the same thing, it comes with a very cheap battery. My second battery I put in it has lasted almost 200 hours and still going. The cheap battery that came with it lasted about 30 hours.

This actually happened twice, once with my CPP and again with my CPP XL so I know it's cheap battery it comes with and not the CPP itself.

This is actually more common then you think with electronics, they always come with very cheap batteries or half charged ones.
