Best/most recent Pokemon game? Wanna play one to see what's the hype about

Either Black/White (for the refresh mentioned above) or Black 2/White 2 (for the "ultimateness").

After those, if you find yourself enjoying the series, you should play Platinum and HeartGold. They come with the benefit that you can transfer your monsters forward to BWB2W2.

Diamond/Pearl/Platinum

play the franchise at its peak, then play nothing that came after

****ing ice cream pokémon, that is all

DPPt is the worst gen. It's so empty and boring. Stop defending mediocre gameplay because you hate two pokemon.

Metroid Zero Mission and Super Metroid are some of the finest 2D games ever made and are the best in the series.
Metroid Fusion is pretty cool I guess.

Thanks bros, any more opinions?

Black and White 2 do everything right. As a Pookemon gamer since 99, I can tell you it is the greatest Pokemon game ever made.

While I agree that while Endgame is best ignored, it's just as valid to call BW1 empty and unfulfilling like you may feel DPPt were.

Go to Gamestop, buy a Steam card, and use it to purchase Ys Origin. You won't be disappointed.

I would just go for BW2. Even though it does continue upon the story from BW, it's not like story is particularly important for the main series pokemon games.

BW2 makes some really substantial improvements over BW, like giving you a much greater variety of pokemon to use (BW forces you to use 5th gen pokemon for the majority of the game, but this means you can't use any of your old favourites, and most of the 5th gen pokemon are pretty lame because they had to be basically copies of 1st gen pokemon to keep the game running smoothly). BW's encounter rate is also ludicrously high, to the point that the game is almost unplayable without constant use of Repel. It's fixed in BW2.

As far as new stuff, BW2 also makes breeding substantially faster (if you intend to play the game competitively, this is worth the price of admission alone), it has a lot more areas total than BW1, and it has the PWT, which is a postgame challenge area where you have to use competitive-style teams to win.

To get you started with the series, I highly recommend Black or White. It's the perfect introductory game imo, with the best gameplay (Only surpassed by its sequel games), story and a damn good soundtrack.

Ok I decided to get Pokemon Black and White 1 then Black and White 2. But just curious black and white are two separate games and both released on the same day right? Are they completely different and take a long time to beat? And why would they make two games and release them on the same day?

Go for Soulsilver. It has great Pokemon and 16 gyms (twice as many as the other games) and tons of legendaries to catch. Soulsilver/Heartgold will give you the most for your money for sure.

hg/ss is the best pokemon game
b/w had better pacing and characters, compared to b/w2 (i also liked the map for b/w1 more)

B2W2 lets you fight all those Gym Leaders and every Gym Leader in the games with semi-competitive teams. Except one because he got promoted to an E4 member, and GameFreak decided not to include an E4 Tourney.

Then lets you pick if you want to face them in any 1 of the 4 battle formats available.
