Why add $5 to your account anyway? If you own a Credit Card, you could pay the full amount in 1 go.
My Aunt gave me a Chase gift card for Hanukkah. IIRC, it came with ~$65 exactly. I use it so I don't have to borrow my mom's credit card. I was hoping to get every penny on my 3DS/Wii U without anything leftover.
You could always ask your mom to let you use her CC, and give her the $5 Chase card.
I feel sorry for any 18 yro who doesn't own a debit card with a major credit card logo.... Hell I feel sorry for any 16 yro + who doesn't.
I have one but it doesn't work on the eShop. My attempts to keep trying it ended up getting charged for around $20 that I never got back, not from Nintendo nor from my bank. But then again, it's not a US bank so... still, I figured Visa is Visa, no matter where it came from, otherwise the name/brand is useless.
pardon if my posts suck, i post by tapping on the handset button on a one-way analog handset. i saw Hannibal Lecter do it.
Debit cards have a problem of cutting down too much inconvenience cost of spending. It can be dangerous in the hands of the young, such as me :(
And doing stupid stuff with debit cards when you're young and probably won't have enough in your bank account to get royally screwed over anyway is a great learning experience.
This. If at any point you're going to screw up and make mistakes with your bank, do it when you have no real responsibilites and s*** to take care of, not when you're older and have to worry about car payments, rent, putting food on the table, etc. Make your mistakes and have your fun while your young.
