Fire Emblem,Valkyria Chronicles or Advanced Wars? (Indepth SRPG Discussion)

I prefer Fire Emblem above Advance Wars. I love the RPG elements and recruiting characters (even if I'm never going to use that one).

Only played the demo of Valkyria Chronicles and didn't like it that much.

In SA2, it's Super Sonic and Hyper Shadow.

I damn well hope not.

Fire Emblem is IS's strategy RPG. Advance (No D.) is IS's TBS series.

Besides, it'd ruin every draw of the series.

What exactly is the sticking point between Turn Based Strategy and Strategy Role Playing game? Is it the individual characterization of the units and their integration into the story?
I've always treated them the same, but yes, I can see a big difference between something like Shining Force and Heroes of Might and Magic.

Also, I think SRPG is a relatively new term, maybe with in the last five or ten years. Before that as far as I know, these type of games were just called strategy, with the distinction of being turn based like chess peices rather than all at once like Red Alert 2 or StarCraft, which are real time.

SRPG isn't that recent. Back on the Playstation we already had games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Brigandine, Vandal Hearts and Tactics Ogre that all used the SRPG label. There were already SRPG's around on the SNES, like Fire Emblem and Bahamut Lagoon, but I'm not sure if there's any SRPG's from back then that were localized for a western release.

And I forgot Shining Force, yeah, also SRPG's from back in the Genesis days.

I know about the games... I even played Fire Emblem I&II and Densetsu Tactics Ogre back on the Japanese Super Famicom. I just mean the term. I have only recently become aware that people don't think of the two as interchangeable anymore. I have an old Super Famicom All Catalog from 1994 that refers to them as TBS games, as opposed to Nobunaga's Ambition (Nobunaga no Yabou), as... okay the same thing.
Almost all of the games you listed I have referred to a Turn Based Strategies, games where you control the individual pieces in a way not unlike chess on some board. Then the computer moves their pieces. However I guess I can see where Nobunaga's Ambition being listed as the same kind of game would sort of blur the lines.
It's just I'd been yelled at for calling Disgaea 3 a Turn Based Strategy as opposed to a Strategy RPG (like I said, I thought they were interchangeable).
And now I miss Vandal Hearts... I remember a new one was going to happen for the DS, and then it didn't. I would have liked for it to. I enjoyed both of those games, even if the enemy moving simultaneous was a new mechanic to adapt to in the second.
=\ Want more Shining Force and Vandal Hearts and Tactics Ogre now. =/

Valkyria Chronicles gets my vote. I've been playing SRPG's since Shining Force, and the original VC (haven't played VC2) was one of the most beautiful and unique SRPG's I've played in a while. It's not a sequel in a series (Tactics Ogre: LUCT, Disgaea 4), and it's not eerily similar to Final Fantasy Tactics... or any other SRPG, for that matter.

It also depends on what mode, for single player I'd rather play Fire Emblem or Valkyria Chronicles, for multiplayer I'd much rather play Advance Wars
